Rock Climbing in the Achental

VARIOUS ROUTES

The Achental is one of the most popular climbing areas in Upper Bavaria.

Rock Climbing in the Achental

The Achental is one of the most popular climbing areas in Upper Bavaria. The Zellerwand rock climbing area, for example, offers more than 220 routes of varying difficulty from 4c to 8a. From beginners to ambitious sport rock climbers, everyone will find their right route on the 80-metre-high rock face. As the rock faces south-east, it attracts many climbers, especially on sunny days. Due to the fragile rock, a climbing helmet should be worn. Another 60 rock climbing routes can be found around the Klobenstein. Technically demanding faces and slabs in this compact rock dominate this small but great climbing area. Children and beginners can train on the practice face at the Zellersee campsite. There are also many rock climbing possibilities around Oberwössen. The nearby Kaiser Mountains and the Kampenwand offer longer routes. The “Chiemgau Rock”, a sports climbing guide, offers a comprehensive overview of the area.

Climbing for young and old

Skill and balance are required in the high rope courses in the Chiemsee-Chiemgau holiday region, which you can reach quickly and easily from the Achental. Go on an adventurous tour through the treetops, get to know new perspectives and enjoy great views of Lake Chiemsee. With various courses between 8 and 12 metres high, the high ropes course at Parker Outdoor in Übersee will make kids and adults eyes light up. Kids from the age of three can get their first taste of heights at 1.5 metres on the children’s course. For beginners, there is also an easy route 6 metres above the ground. The climbing forest in Prien am Chiemsee also offers varied climbing for the whole family. Here, 13 routes with over 110 exciting exercises at heights of up to 14 metres ensure fun and action. What are you waiting for?

Demanding Via Ferrata

Short but demanding – this is exactly how we would describe Hausbach Wasserfall Via Ferrata in nearby Reit im Winkl. This Via Ferrata has a length of 400 metres and bridges a height difference of 100 metres. It is classified as  demanding (difficulty level C/D). Those who only want to have a look choose that steep hiking trail that leads through the gorge of the waterfall since more than 100 years. From there you can enjoy a magnificent view of the climbers climbing through the steel cables of the Hausbachfall Via Ferrata.
