Walking and Hiking
THE NATURAL PARADISE IN THE CHIEMGAU ALPS
More than 150 kilometers of marked hiking paths from easy to difficult are waiting for you to discover the Achental on foot. Every village contributes to the varied diversity with its unique character. Put on your hiking boots and discover the mountains in the Achental.
Staudach-Egerndach will enchant you with its relaxing walks across gentle meadows, past small lakes in the valley and through remote moorland. On the same holiday, the Mountaineering Village of Schleching offers you challenging climbs, for example, up to the Geigelstein at 1,808 metres with great rewards at the top. Idyllic paths along the river, the Tiroler Ache, are waiting for you between the villages of Marquartstein and Unterwössen. Or how about a hike up to the summits of Hochgern (1,744 metres), Hochplatte (1,586 metres) or across to the Kampenwand (1,668 metres)? Several long-distance hiking paths, such as the SalzAlpenSteig, the Fernwanderweg E4, the Maximiliansweg and the Via Alpina also run through the Achental.
It’s easy to get to some of the surrounding peaks with the cable car. One thing is certain: The higher up you go, the more beautiful the views over the Achental are. The green meadows and cool forests are separated by the turquoise colored river, the Tiroler Ache, which winds its way through the valley. Peaks of happiness for everyone!
Nestled in the beautiful mountains there are picturesque mountain huts, such as the Piesenhausener Hochalm, which will impress you with its unique view over Lake Chiemsee. The rustic huts don’t only entice you to linger for a while, but will also wet your appetite for a hearty snack. Enjoy homemade specialities such as delicious mountain cheese, bacon or freshly baked farmer’s bread with a beautiful panoramic view to boot.
