How to get here
Your journey to the Achental
Getting to the Achental is quick and easy thanks to its wonderful location in southern Chiemgau. Larger cities such as Munich (90 kilometers), Salzburg (60 kilometers) or Innsbruck (115 kilometers) are easy to get to quickly. Smaller towns such as Traunstein (22 kilometers), Rosenheim (36 kilometers) or Kössen in Tyrol (15 kilometers) are very close by. This makes the Achental an ideal starting point for excursions. By car
The best way to get to the Achental is via the A8 motorway. Coming from Munich, take exit 106 signposted Bernau am Chiemsee, then follow the signs towards Reit im Winkl (B305). Coming from Salzburg, leave the motorway at exit 109 signposted Grabenstätt, then exit the roundabouts onto the B305 towards Reit im Winkl. After about ten kilometers on the main road, you will reach your destination in the Achental.
If you come by electric car, there are numerous charging stations in the Achental, for example at many tourist information offices, at the town halls of the eco-model communities and at several businesses.
By public transport
The Achental valley can be reached via the airports in Salzburg (52 kilometers) and Munich (130 kilometers).

Flights
Fly to one of the nearby airports: either Salzburg (SZG) 52 kilometers, Munich (MUC) 130 kilometers.
From Salzburg airport take the bus from the airport to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof), and then catch one of the train services from there.
From Munich airport take the S-Bahn to Munich East (München Ost), then catch one of the train services from there.
Trains

Passengers should catch one of the trains on the Munich – Rosenheim – Salzburg railway line. Choose one of the nearby train stations – Übersee (8 kilometers), Bernau am Chiemsee (10 kilometers), Prien am Chiemsee (15 kilometers) and Traunstein (25 kilometers) as your destination. TRAVELING IN THE ACHENTAL WITHOUT A CAR
Achental bus services
Leave your car parked up during your holiday. That helps your wallet and the environment. With your Guest Card, which you will receive from your host when you arrive, you can travel free of charge with the bus services 9509 (Reit im Winkl – Traunstein) as well as 9505 (Reit im Winkl – Prien). The free Achental bus service takes you from Marquartstein to Schleching, Unterwössen or Oberwössen, Staudach-Egerndach, Übersee-Feldwies, Grassau and Rottau.

Hiking bus
Our hiking bus takes you to four of the most attractive starting points for hikes in the Chiemgau Alps. From there you can start numerous personal circular routes, routes to other hiking bus stops or hikes back to your holiday accommodation. You can find a selection of 16 hikes of varying difficulty in the free map overview, which you can pick up from one of our Tourist Information Centers. To give you a better sense of direction and provide you with more details, we recommend picking up our Achental hiking map (for €4.50), which is also available in the Tourist Information Centers. The hiking bus is free for guests with a valid card from Unterwössen, Oberwössen as well as the All-Inclusive card from Reit im Winkl.

Shuttle bus for large events
For large events such as the Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding, you can reach the arena easily from the Achental by shuttle buses. For more information, please contact one of the Tourist Information Centers. For the shuttle buses to the Biathlon World Cup, we recommend you to buy your tickets in plenty of time from the Tourist Information Centers in the Achental. This is the only way of guaranteeing you a seat on the bus. Only if there are any remaining seats, it is possible to buy your ticket directly from the bus driver.

Parking Places
The Achental is conveniently located and offers all visitors and guests numerous parking options. Our hiking parking spaces are the ideal starting point for an eventful hike. The parking spaces in the towns of Staudach-Egerndach, Marquartstein, Schleching and Unterwössen are also ideal ways to start a hike in a relaxed manner, especially if the hiking parking spaces are already full.
